Meet the newest member of the Rivera family!
To say I love newborns is an understatement :-) Their little toes, tiny fingers, even their soft sneezes make me swoon! And I’m always reminded how light they after holding either of my two boys.
When Carrie called me just a few days after her sweet little guy made it into the world and asked me about doing a newborn session, I was elated. She asked if I might be able to squeeze her in before he was 10 days new (the perfect time to get newborn images since they are still very sleepy and curly). Thankfully my schedule worked out and I had them over that Saturday for a beautiful little session with her family.
I first met Carrie at her eldest son’s birthday party. Our boys became fast friends when their respective dads would frequent our neighborhood playground this past spring and often ended up being the boys’ third and fourth playmates.
From watching our boys play together, I noted that Carrie’s oldest had a sweet spirit and a lot of life, so I wanted to be sure we got some of his personality on camera.
To get some sibling shots of Carrie’s two boys, I knew we had to ease into it. Since her oldest son just turned two, I made sure the session was a fun experience for him and not something where he’d be scared or not want to participate. So to do that, we played games :-P
Once the family images are done, I like to move into the more intimate shots with mom/dad and then the baby by him/herself. There is always something so special when capturing the love between a parent and his/her child. It’s often peaceful; it’s intimate; it’s raw. Those images in particular freeze a moment in time that a mom/dad will never have again with their little angel, so it’s something I think is important for them to have and remember. Babies change so much and so fast, and it’s often not until you look back at those photos that you realize how much they grew.
I enjoyed this Wake Forest, NC newborn session so much, and can’t wait to continue working with the Rivera family throughout the year, as they’ve asked me to document the milestones of their sweet little guy through his first birthday! Stay tuned as more memories are shared about this sweet family :-)
