“Flowers always make people better, happier, and more helpful; they are sunshine, food and medicine for the soul.” –Luther Burbank
Several weeks ago, I had the privilege of visiting the cutest little place in Chapin, SC, just north of Lexington, SC. You know when you happen upon a place that gives you that instant sense of home? That’s how I felt when I first walked into the Lake Murray Flower Shoppe in Chapin, SC. I felt like I’d just walked into someone’s home and they were inviting me in to sit, have a cup of tea and stay for awhile.
Between the beautiful fall displays, thoughtful gifts for sale and gorgeous flowers available for all occasions, I felt as if I’d happened upon a neighborhood cornerstone bursting with possibilities.
Upon walking into the quaint shop, I was greeted with the scent of fresh flowers and saw beautiful wreaths and other floral displays placed carefully around the walls. The hint of fall was in the air reminding us of the changing seasons.
Co-owners Megan and Lynda, a mother-daughter duo, were such a pleasure to meet, and I could tell upon our first bit of conversation that this was more than just a business to them – it is a way they can speak joy back into people’s lives.
“We love making people’s days – making them smile with the unexpected,” Megan shared with me as we chatted.
Customer service is of the utmost importance to the team at the Lake Murray Flower Shoppe, and I was able to see it first hand when a current customer came in simply to thank the team for the floral arrangement they had made for her child who was sick. She explained how much it made her child’s day and how she appreciated the thoughtfulness that went into sending it her way.
As Megan shared more about the business that she and her mom run, she explained that they offer services to a variety of clients.
“We do everything from weddings to funerals to baby showers to even helping a husband look for something special to surprise his wife with that night. We’re in the business of bringing smiles to people’s faces and brightening their day any way we can.”
Between supplying florals for wedding engagements every year, celebrating birthdays, anniversaries, funerals/celebration of life services, mothers who are expecting and even the “just because” gifts, they have a little something for everyone who walks into their shoppe.
In addition to providing their walk-in clients a variety of services, they also deliver florals all over the area – from Lexington, to Columbia, to Newberry and beyond.
I found it most fascinating to talk with Megan about the history of the building and how many businesses it housed before Lake Murray Flower Shoppe graced it presence.
“This building is over 100 years old and it has been everything from a pharmacy to a movie theater and a general store before we took it over,” Megan said.
If you haven’t had a chance to visit the Lake Murray Flower Shoppe, I’d highly encourage you to do so. They’re more than just a flower shop – they are a place that brings the color and joy back into people’s lives, one arrangement at a time. So be sure to check out one of the best places for florals near Lexington, SC – I know you won’t be disappointed :)
