An autumn Raleigh maternity session

Maternity Photography

Has Christmas snuck up on anyone else this season? Somewhere in the midst of November, I feel like life became a blur of events, and my December blew in fast and furious making it one of the busiest Decembers to date! Between family and photography, it has been nonstop, but I must say I am thrilled to have so many different things to share with you on my blog over the next couple of months, and today I’m starting with a perfect couple who is expecting their first child in the new year :)

I first met Leigh & Scott this summer when Scott reached out to me to capture images of them announcing to the world that they were pregnant (See that fun session here!) When Scott later asked me if I would capture memories of he and his bride getting ready to welcome their son into the world through a maternity session, I was elated and couldn’t wait to document this sweet time in their lives.

We decided to start their session in a large grassy area of the park, and it didn’t take us any time to start laughing together :) Talking about everything from football to teaching to youth ministry at church and everything in between, we had a great time and couldn’t have asked for anything better.

One area I wanted to take Leigh and Scott was down on the water. Perhaps it’s because they are in ministry like our family is, but the idea of water spoke to me as new birth and new beginnings. There’s nothing like welcoming a child into the world, and there’s something very sacred about your first.

I could tell working with Scott and Leigh that they are very excited and will be great parents once their little John makes his debut in the world. I just can’t wait to meet him in a few short weeks with the coming of the New Year! Stay tuned for updates about that!
