Raleigh maternity photography on the water

Maternity Photography, Portrait Photography

“These were my grandfather’s, so I’m not sure quite how old they are, but I know they date back to at least his infancy.”

All the heart eyes and all the feels were had when Sarah started telling the story of her grandfather’s baby shoes and how they were important to her and her family.  And now they were going to be passed down to her sweet daughter who was to be born in just a few short months.

When Sarah & Marc first reached out to me to document the journey of their pregnancy, I was elated to know they trusted me enough to tell their story.  I first met them at another photography session I did for their extended family, and I immediately loved talking to them as soon as I met them.  Fast forward nearly a year later, and they reached out to me to let me know the exciting news that they were pregnant, and I couldn’t be more happy for them!

Both Sarah & Marc are in science/math professions, Sarah specifically being a professor at Wake Tech University in Raleigh.  In talking with them about the ideas they had for their maternity session, Sarah mentioned they wanted something simple, nothing over the top and something that would capture their personalities.

“We love the water.  Our house isn’t far from the lake in town, so we’d love to incorporate that as much as we can since it’s part of who we are.”  Taking all of that into consideration, we decided to do their session at Blue Jay Point Nature park, as it offered the best place for everything they were looking to have in their images.

Sarah was amazing navigating the paths that led down to the rocks, and I got a glimpse at the very attentive and caring husband that Marc is to Sarah as he helped her along the way.

We laughed so much during their session :) From the sarcasm they would jab back and forth at each other to letting me know when their little girl was moving around in Sarah’s belly, we had a great time getting to know each other and getting some sweet memories of this journey.

What was amazing was that I got to meet their sweet daughter just a couple of months after we did their maternity session, and I must say, she is a sweet little angel :)   Stay tuned for seeing more for their newborn session we did just a bit earlier this year!
