Happy New Year! By now, we’ve all heard about the goals, resolutions, ambitions and expectations so many have put on the year 2017. Perhaps you’ve even made some yourself (and possibly broken them), or perhaps you know without a doubt that this year is going to be good and different.
Coming into 2017, I’ve had a myriad of emotions – excitement, fears of failure, anticipation, ambitions of new directions I want to take in my business… But what I’ve realized more than anything is that I’m eager to meet new moms and brides-to-be who want their story documented and told through images in a real and timeless way. I want to photograph more than what initially meets the eye in my camera. I want to successfully paint a picture of what these beautiful women’s lives are all about, capture their personalities through images, and do it in a way that draws people in and allows them to live their story along side of them.
But before I look to much toward the future, I like taking a look back on the year past and reflect on the many joys and people I got to meet. In 2016, I began to do what I am feeling so called toward now. Between meeting brides and fellow photographers in the area, and then photographing some fabulous families, I was blessed to get to know some great people and learn about their stories. Documenting a baby’s first year is at the heart of my business, and this year I was honored to start that journey for a couple of families.
This beautiful family is part of my Baby’s 1st Year Milestone Collection. I have two more sessions with them in the new year, and cannot wait to document this little guy’s growth and changes!
I’ve also been following this little family along for Baby’s 1st Year with the birth of this sweet girl this past summer. Her older brother is quite the proud older sibling!
It was so fun to jump back into wedding photography this year, and thanks to the lovely photographer Christy Ancheta, I had the opportunity to do just that :)
And to all of my wonderful families I got to know and photograph this year – thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It was an honor to be able to document your families in a way that I hope you’ll hold dear to your hearts for years to come.
So looking forward, I am eagerly anticipating those I will meet as my business grows and adapts to what I envision it to be. The possibilities are endless, and I feel very grateful for that. Here’s to a great 2017!
