It ended up being a perfect day. The weather worked in our favor, the wind was just right, and Collin’s dress from Lana Addison Bridal was simply gorgeous. I couldn’t have been more excited how everything came together to photograph Collin’s bridal portraits, and I was so honored she asked me to capture these special moments for her.
When I first spoke to Collins, I learned that she was married in the fall of 2017. Because her dress took longer to alter than originally anticipated, she wasn’t able to get bridal portraits taken before hand, so she wanted to get bridal images taken later to complete her wedding images from her special day.
We decided to do her session at the JC Raulston Arboretum earlier this year, and though we were worried about the cold, it ended up being a warm day in the middle of several chilly ones. What I loved was that there was a bit of green foliage throughout the arboretum that we incorporated into her session, and in one area where she was seated, it truly looked like she was sitting in the middle of Eden’s garden. To say I got a little excited from behind the camera is an understatement :) With the bit of breeze we had in the air, it gently brushed Collin’s hair back just slightly and left her looking like a model from one of the many wedding magazines I look through from time to time. We couldn’t have asked for better.
The flowers she had from Designs by Donna were a beautiful purple hue infused with small succulents and incorporated ribbon from Hey It’s So Pretty (Etsy shop) that gave it that extra elegant touch. Though we didn’t plan it, the small house that was there at the arboretum matched perfectly with the bits of color she incorporated into her flowers.
The A-frame design of her dress designed by Martina Liana offered the perfect touch of simplicity and elegance. The lace sleeves and back with buttons was truly beautiful. And the small train offered just enough fabric in the back to give a long slender appearance to Collins as she wore it so well. It was as if the dress was made specifically for her.
I think what made the session fun as well is that Collins was willing to try lots of different things as I asked her to go here and there throughout the park, and her mom joined us as well. Hearing her mom’s comments of “Oh, that looks so pretty!” as we went along kept me smiling the whole time because I knew they both were having fun.
